I was so excited to work on this cake with the couple, I met Olwen and Tony for their consultation and the vision they had for their wedding was exciting to say the least. The wedding was held at The Larmer Tree Gardens in an open marquee on the lawn after their ceremony in the temple building.
Setting up was team work alongside Nicky from Larmer Tree Gardens and Steph from Catkin & Co florists. The theme was summery vintage as afternoon tea was to be served in wicker hampers. Vintage china from Swingletree China Hire adorned the main table alongside some stunning flowers. The cake table was not only to feature the Naked wedding cake but also an old gramophone which would be used to play music during the day. The table also featured gorgeous blooms in china teacups alongside bowls of fresh berries and shortbread to eat with the cake.
The flavours for this Summer Naked Wedding Cake were unique and went down a real treat with the guests. The top tier was Raspberry St. Clements which was an orange and lemon sponge with fresh raspberries layered with lemon curd and a vanilla butter cream, the middle tier was a Morello Cherry Ripple Bakewell which was an almond sponge rippled with a morello cherry syrup then layered with vanilla butter cream and morello cherries and finally the bottom tier was a white chocolate sponge layered with white chocolate butter cream and a zesty passionfruit curd.
After the wedding we received this feedback from Olwen, it’s what I love about my job that I get to create wedding cakes for the loveliest couples.
“Thanks Sadie, the cake was beyond awesome. A truly whimsical summery delight, and each layer tasted amazing, still can’t make my mind up on my favourite. It was a huge hit with guests. Going wild over trying all the flavours! thanks so much.”
