Naked Wedding Cakes

This month has seen us creating one of my favourite types of wedding cake, ‘The Naked Wedding Cake, they are just so simple and stylish in design and dreamily romantic what’s not to love about them?

Both of the pictured cakes were created for weddings at the stunning Sopley Mill In Dorset, which provides the perfect backdrop of rustic brick walls for the cakes.

No two naked cakes are ever the same, with the addition of flowers or berries or both each one has a bespoke look and there is something special about the look created by fresh blooms nestled against a rustic homemade cake.

When couples arrive for their consultation they generally think a naked cake is easy to plan, and then out comes the notebook, would you like rustic looking butter cream, butter cream balls, smooth butter cream, jam dripping down the cake or kept in the middle and the planning goes on….

With vanilla, jam and butter cream still being a popular flavour, lemon drizzle and salted caramel are competing for top flavour spot!

I can’t think of anything more perfect than a slice of delicious cake, a spoonful of berries and a dollop of clotted cream, and this is where a naked cake comes up trumps providing not just a stunning wedding cake but dessert too! why pay out for both?
